AEShot Support
Screenshots, annotations, text recognition and screen recording
Getting started on the Mac
AEShot lives in the menu bar (look for the viewfinder icon); it has no Dock icon. On first launch, the welcome window asks for the Screen Recording permission: allow it, turn on AEShot in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen Recording, then restart AEShot from the welcome window.
Default shortcuts
⌥⇧⌘4 Capture Area · ⌥⇧⌘5 Capture Window · ⌥⇧⌘3 Capture Fullscreen
⌥⇧⌘6 Scrolling Capture · ⌥⇧⌘2 Capture Text · ⌥⇧⌘7 Record Screen
Change them in Settings › Shortcuts. To use ⇧⌘3, ⇧⌘4 or ⇧⌘5, first turn off the macOS screenshot shortcuts in System Settings › Keyboard › Keyboard Shortcuts › Screenshots. On Windows the defaults are Ctrl+Alt+Shift with the same numbers.
Common questions
macOS asks again whether AEShot may record the screen. macOS periodically asks you to confirm screen recording for every app that uses it. Choose Allow.
Auto-Scroll does nothing. Auto-Scroll needs the Accessibility permission: turn on AEShot in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility, then press Auto-Scroll again. Scrolling by hand always works.
Where are my screenshots? In Pictures › AEShot, unless you chose another folder in Settings › General. Menu bar icon › Show Screenshots Folder opens it.
Capture Text finds nothing. Select a little more than the text itself, and make sure it is not too small on screen.
My recording has no sound. Turn on computer audio or the microphone in the recording bar before pressing Record.
